The diagnostic process at Colin van Wyk Optometrist utilizes the STARK-GRIFFIN DYSLEXIA ASSESSMENT, recognized by the Health Professions Council of South Africa (HPCSA) since 2019. The assessment, developed by the Stark-Griffin Dyslexia Academy (SGDA), categorizes dyslexia into seven types and six severity levels. This standardized approach ensures accurate diagnosis and appropriate recommendations for accommodations, minimizing irregularities in assessment. At its core, Colin van Wyk Optometrist aims to provide equal opportunities through accurate dyslexia diagnosis, aligning with the principles of inclusive education and the advocacy of the HPCSA and Department of Basic Education (DBE) in South Africa.
